Locus of Control

One of the theories of learning that underlies my tutoring center is the idea of the locus of control. Learning independently either in online or in person school requires an internal locus of control.

As someone who responds well to deadlines, sometimes I forget that I need to drive things from within, also.

But it goes beyond that. People who only have an external locus of control cannot see their own role in their circumstances. I’ll bet a lot of the internet complainers don’t have a good internal sense. Not everything needs to be handed to you. Sometimes you have to act. You have to work.

Nobody else is going to do this for you.
